What is a well visit?

Regular well visits are essential even when your child isn't sick, allowing Coastal Kids to monitor their growth, address any early concerns, and build a complete medical history. During well visits, our pediatric clinicians conduct thorough physical exams, administer vaccines, and assess your child’s developmental milestones and growth since the previous visit. The clinician also compares your child’s height and weight with those of other children in their same age group to see if their growth is on track.

Early detection and prevention save lives

Every child goes through stages of rapid physical development. The sooner we can detect any potential health problems, the better chance we have of treating them successfully. Well visits are a primary tool used to detect and prevent diseases and protect your child’s overall health.

This face-to-face time with your pediatric clinician also gives you and your child the opportunity to ask questions, discuss concerns in detail, and get age-appropriate advice to help guide you through your child’s next milestones and beyond.

Your child grows quickly in their first two years of life, requiring more well visits during this time. The first visit is usually scheduled a few days after birth and then repeats regularly, transitioning to annual visits as your child gets older. You should never skip a well visit, even if your child seems healthy.
