Q&A with Dr. Hamidy
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
My favorite animated movie is The Little Mermaid.
What is your favorite children's book?
One of my favorite children’s books is I Love You to the Moon and Back. I love the sweet message about unconditional love and the special bond between parent and child — it’s such a heartwarming story!
What was your favorite childhood toy?
My favorite childhood toy was my Easy-Bake Oven! I loved getting creative in the kitchen and making tiny treats for my family — it was so much fun.
Who is your greatest inspiration?
My greatest inspiration is my parents. They came to the United States from Afghanistan and worked incredibly hard to build a beautiful life for our family. Their strength, resilience, and unwavering support taught me the importance of compassion, perseverance, and following your dreams — values I carry with me every day as a pediatrician.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Outside of work, I love hiking, being in nature, and spending quality time with family and friends. Whether it’s exploring a new trail or simply enjoying time with loved ones, these moments help me recharge and bring balance to my life.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I was the 5-year-old who always said she wanted to be a pediatrician — and I never changed my mind! I’ve always loved working with children and helping families, and I feel incredibly lucky to now do what I dreamed of as a child every day.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I strive to make every family feel heard, supported, and cared for. I’m a good listener, deeply compassionate, and always willing to go above and beyond for your child. Building trusting relationships with families and creating a warm, comfortable environment are some of the most important parts of my job.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
I believe every child deserves care that is personalized to their unique needs. I take the time to listen to families and do whatever I can to help each child feel safe, comfortable, and supported during their visit. Whether that means adjusting the pace of the appointment, creating a calming environment, or working closely with parents and caregivers, my goal is to make every experience a positive one.
