Dr. Steven A. Shapiro recently retired after 23 years, as Chairman, Department of Pediatrics, Jefferson Abington Hospital, Abington, Pennsylvania. Throughout his professional life, he has been an outspoken advocate for children in and around the areas that his Montgomery County practice (Pediatric Medical Associates) serves. Dr. Shapiro is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and the American College Osteopathic Pediatricians (FACOP). In April 2003, Dr. Shapiro was elected a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia (FCPP), one of the most prestigious medical societies in America, and in continuous operation since 1784. He is married to his childhood sweetheart, Judi. They have three children; one of whom serves as the Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; three more by marriage; and ten loving and adoring grandchildren.
