YOUR VISIT
Newborn visits
Your newborn baby deserves a healthy start
Newborn visits are the first step of your baby’s care
We can’t wait to welcome your baby
A head-to-toe health check for your newborn
During your newborn visit, we will perform a complete physical examination of your baby. We will also check their developmental milestones and assess their weight, feeding, sleeping, and voiding (stooling) habits. If you have questions or need advice, this visit is a perfect time to ask.
We will also review your hospital or birthing center discharge papers to make sure all necessary screenings and vaccines are complete (including a newborn screening/PKU, hearing test, and hepatitis B vaccine) and discuss upcoming appointments and vaccines with you.
Your baby’s care and safety are top priorities
All newborn visits at Coastal Kids are scheduled first thing in the morning or first thing in the afternoon to minimize your baby’s exposure to other children. You will go directly to an exam room when you arrive or wait in a designated well visit area if no exam room is available. Please remember to bring your hospital or birthing center discharge papers, driver’s license, and insurance card with you.
Before you leave the office, our staff will schedule your baby’s next set of appointments to ensure their milestones are met and avoid any vaccine delays — building a healthy relationship from the start.
