Q&A with Jeanne
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
As a kid, I loved watching Saturday morning cartoons with my big brother and big sister!
What is your favorite children's book and why?
I read "Where the Mountain Meets the Moon", by Grace Lin, to my daughters when they were young. To this day, my younger daughter reads it at least once a year! In the story, the main character, Minli, goes on a fantastical quest to help her family and village have prosperity. Along the way, she learns to be grateful for what she already had and, as a reward for choosing to help others over herself, is also able to bring prosperity to her family and her village.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
Anything animals! Stuffed animals, toy animals, real animals! I loved my Milky the Marvelous Milking Cow that I got for Christmas when I was 6 years old!
Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
My 2 kids and 3 step kids! 5 different personalities, 5 different paths, and 5 different ways of showing me what love, perseverance, and success look like!
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
When I'm not at work, I can be found spending time with my family (usually traveling, eating out, or cooking something yummy), going to yoga classes, walking on the beach, reading, and playing with my Frenchie, Moose!
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
My caring and curious nature- combined with a love of children, teaching, and science- led me into my beloved field of pediatric nursing.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I believe healthcare is a partnership; my goal is to create a comfortable space where you feel heard and empowered to make the best decisions for your family's health. I am approachable, easy to talk to, playful with young patients, and understand the joys and challenges of raising littles and teens in South Orange County. I love to teach and have a passion for empowering patients and families through education and preventative care.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
Our office is friendly and welcoming to all children, including those with special needs. I utilize a playful approach for children with fear of medical providers and autism spectrum disorder, to help them to feel comfortable and unafraid during exams.
