Q&A with Kathleen
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
The "Fox and the Hound," a sweet story about friendship. Growing up my favorite princess was Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), but as I grew older, Rapunzel (Tangled) became my favorite, because I could relate so well to her complexity of character.
What is your favorite children's book?
"Love You Forever," this is a book I read to my boys about a mother-son relationship and the circle of their relationship over time.
What was your favorite childhood toy?
My favorite childhood toy was my Cabbage Patch doll.
Who is your greatest inspiration?
I am inspired daily by friends, patients and their families who face difficulties in life and continue to grow through these experiences with positivity and grace.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I enjoy doing musical theatre shows with my boys.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I loved my pediatrician as a child and wanted to be just like him when I grew up. I also love kids and enjoy watching them grow and caring for them and their families.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I have a background in child development and prior to nursing, I taught pre-school. I love working with kids and always strive to treat patients and their families as I would my own. Implementing the golden rule as a regular practice.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
We have special sensory toys for use as needed during appointments to accommodate those who struggle in this environment.
