Q&A with Stacey
What is your favorite animated movie or cartoon?
Bluey
What is your favorite children's book and why?
Llama Llama Red Pajama
What was your favorite childhood toy?
I can't think of a favorite childhood toy, but I loved playing basketball all the way through high school.
Who is your greatest inspiration and why?
My children are a great source of inspiration to me, as are my patients and their families.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Spending time with my family, traveling, reading, drinking coffee, watching basketball or soccer.
What inspired you to work in pediatrics?
I have always wanted to work with kids. Prior to becoming a NICU RN and later an NP, I planned to teach. Working with kids and their parents brings me the greatest joy, especially as a parent myself. We are all trying to help and love our kids to the best of our abilities and I love being able to assist my families.
What unique qualities, skills, or services set you apart, and how do you build a positive rapport with patients and their families?
I don’t have a shy bone in my body and my goal is to make everyone feel comfortable. That may be listening more, talking less, cracking jokes or simply comforting. I also want the to understand that this is a judgement free zone and no question is a bad one! I also practice by a motto I learned in nursing school: treat every patient/family as your most treasured loved one.
How do you accommodate patients with special needs?
N/A
